When we moved in to our current house, we did not have any kids yet. We had jack and jill rooms in the house that would be perfect for any future kids. The dilemma came when we were deciding what color to paint the rooms. We hired someone to come in and paint the whole house so it made sense to us that we needed to pick out a paint color for those too. Might as well have them paint everything at once, right?
So we opted for a pale yellow, figuring that was a great gender neutral color that would make the room bright and cheery.
But then our first baby girl came and the yellow seemed to be all wrong. I wanted to make a girly room and felt like the yellow was limiting me. I went about it all wrong – I didn’t look around to see what I could do with the room that would work with the yellow. Had I taken the time during my pregnancy to look at different color palettes, I would have seen that there was a lot I could do with the yellow!
Next time around, I know I will have a lot of options to work with the yellow. One of those options being a beautiful yellow and gray gender neutral room!

Obviously you will need some art for the walls as well!

The yellow and gray is so soft and sophisticated. I think the color palette would last long after your baby was out of the crib!
