We love art projects and crafts over here. We actually have two walk in closets dedicated to our art supplies. One closet is all the things that the kids have regular access to whenever they feel like making something and the other has our more dedicated supplies. Needless to say, we have a lot of stuff!
This week we decided to take a look at Dale Chihuly’s work. We viewed many of Chihuly’s art installations, talked about the color and patterns, designs made from lines or shapes, and then gave my kids sharpies and the plates.

They were very excited that they got to draw on plates, not a normal craft over here! Once they finished coloring, I placed them in the oven at 350 degrees for a few minutes. The plates curl up and are soft when they come out. I then used a spatula to hold one side up to give it just a bit more curved shape. I also used my hand (in a glove) to help shape them.

Super easy craft and so much fun! My kids are using them to hold their jewelry in their rooms.
