One of our favorite places to go is Disney World. We are lucky to live not too far away and get to visit quite often. And one of our favorite places to go in Disney is Epcot. The kids love the rides, even though there are not that many there, and the adults love the drinks… I mean, the rides too! Now that we have been able to visit often, we have really been able to venture into the countries in Epcot to explore.
My oldest daughter in particular loves the Kidcot stations. In each country, you can stop in one of the areas and they give you a little passport book and card to color to learn about the country. This is what started her into wanting to learn more about countries all over the world.
She also LOVES to cook and try new foods. So I decided to try to incorporate the two into a short weekly activity.

This project has also helped her learn how to use the computer. She basically had no experience prior to this project. Now she has learned how to use Google to search, look for images and find the information she is looking for.

Each week after she completes a country, we cook an authentic dinner from that country – her choice! The only stipulation was it couldn’t be something we normally eat (like fried rice or tacos).
Draw the country flag and the national flower, identify the capital, leader, language spoken, population and other famous people as well as historic landmarks and places to visit!
I think I will look into adding some more things for each of these countries to learn about as well, but for now, this has been fun!
