My sister was the one who got me in to oils. It started when I was pregnant an extremely nauseous. She swore that oils would do the trick and yes, they definitely helped! (She uses oils for everything. It reminds me of the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding and how they swore by Windex.) I had my baby and never thought about looking into oils again…until we hit the teething stage. My first daughter was never bothered by teething. I assumed my second would be the same, but you know what they say about assuming…
She started waking up frequently at night in pain. I was barely getting an hour stretch at a time. And I need my sleep. My second came home from the hospital already sleeping 6 hour stretches at night and was at a full 12 hours by the time she was 10 weeks. So to go from that to not sleeping at all was just not working for me.
My sister told me about Copaiba. Like anything I do, I researched the heck out of it. While doing so, I ended up learning a lot about essential oils. I decided I wanted to give it a try and ended up purchasing the starter kit (you definitely don’t have to go this way if you want to give one or two oils a try but I would definitely recommend Young Living as they are the only seed to seal company).
Not only did Copaiba help her with discomfort, Lavender has helped her get back to her 12 hour night sleeps and a much better nap routine. What about me? Thieves eliminated a sore throat completely while I slept.
Am I “all about oils”? No, not yet. But I definitely want to learn more about them, when to use them, etc and give them a fair shot!
In addition to the starter kit I purchased, I also bought Ginger, R.C., Eucalyptus Globulus and the Calming Baby Wash. I have a wish list of some others I may get next time around.
I created a little cheat sheet for myself that I figured I would share with my readers. It includes the oils from the starter kit as well as the other ones I had purchased. Download it here.
