When my older daughter was younger, we had one of those alphabet play mats for the floor and we would play all sorts of letter games that she learned all the letters relatively quickly. We no longer have the play mat and we are now “stuck” at home due to covid-19, and I realized that I have done absolutely nothing with my toddler as far as the alphabet goes.

Now let me take a step back and say that no, your two year old does NOT need to know the alphabet. But if your house is anything like mine, I need to somehow entertain my toddler while my older daughter gets her online school work completed each day. She was excited each week when I was printing out homework for my older one that I decided to see how she would react if i gave her her own homework.
And she loved it!
So I decided to try letter of the week activities with her to see if she would want to learn and listen to me. There are a lot of different theories on the order to teach the alphabet but I decided just to start with A since she already knew the ABC song.
I created the letter of the week activity pack with the thought of it being simple for 2-4 year olds to work on. This type of curriculum is not new but I wanted to share with you what works for us along with some fun activities you can do together.

Included in the Letter of the Week activity packs for each letter are coloring pages, Do-a-Dot letter activities, bubble letter crafts and activities, playdoh mat, apple craft, counting activities, and capital and lowercase sorting games.
Don’t need all the activities but still want to work on letters? Check out the basic alphabet recognition posters here.
