It took us a bit longer than I had anticipated to get through the first lesson in the “River of Voices” curriculum by Blossom and Root. It made me a little nervous because I had also bought some of the Evan-Moor workbooks to do along side the “River of Voices”. I sat down this afternoon to see if I could quickly and roughly plan out the year and have all the lessons fit.
I wanted to share it in case anyone else was doing something similar to me. I did not plan the use all the pockets in each of the workbooks. I figure if there is a week that ends up shorter and we have time to fit extra in our schedule, I will squeeze another in. For example, not all of the Native American tribes in the Evan-Moor workbook is discussed in “River of Voices”. But I want to try to get to them all if we can!
Here is our schedule, with the weeks we will be doing the lessons along with the weeks that are holiday breaks for us. Let me know if you decide to use it too! Maybe we can help each other out.
(I’ll come back to edit this if anything ends up changing or I realize I made a mistake.)

I am curious how your experience went with this curriculum. How did it work out?
My daughter didn’t love it, but I thought it was very well written. I learned a lot and thought that they did a good job making sure it was inclusive. I would definitely still recommend and we will tackle it again another year. She started watching random documentaries throughout the year and became interested in different countries. We ended up doing an Ancient Egypt study and then using My Country template and studying a different country each week. We also read Honest History and partnered it with the My Country templates. If you have any other questions, let me know!
